SUN Liang
Born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province in 1957.
Graduated from the Shanghai University of Light Industry in 1982, currently living and working in Shanghai.
Sun Liang is a painting daydreamer. After the mid-eighties his painting took on stylistic characteristics of expressionism, symbolism and surrealism and adopted a strong critical spirit towards man and reality. He created an assortment of prototypical animals, insects, birds and other strange creatures that were transformed into half man half beast shapes. On his canvases these shapes were synthesized, split apart, deviated to create an absurd world. This preposterous, abnormal scene truly reflects the inner world of the artist.
