WANG Yi
Born in Sichuan in 1957.
Graduated from Shanghai Normal University in 1984.
Wang Yi is a representative artist of the of the ¡¯85 New Wave¡¯s major art consortium the ¡°Northwestern Young Artists¡¯ Collective.¡± He was an advocate of the spirit of rational self-awareness, proposing ¡°endless trial and error as stepping closer to a higher spiritual awakening.¡± His works arise from his innermost being and historical recollection; he explored the profound dialogue between self and epoch through oil painting, object collage, the use of mixed media and other various languages.
